# Audience

> Manage contacts, lists, segments, topics, preferences, and suppressions.

Audience is where you manage everyone who can receive email from your brand. Use it to import contacts, organize lists, build segments, manage preferences, and protect sending reputation.

Audience includes:

* **Contacts** for subscriber records, fields, status, and activity
* **Lists** for fixed groups you manage
* **Segments** for saved filters that update as contacts change
* **Topics** for subscriber-facing preference categories
* **Suppression** for addresses blocked from marketing sends

## Common use cases

* Import opted-in contacts from CSV
* Build a segment from filters or a plain-language prompt
* Target a campaign to a list or segment
* Let subscribers manage preferences
* Exclude bounced, unsubscribed, risky, or manually suppressed addresses
* Localize emails by contact language

## Best practices

**Import with consent.** Do not upload purchased, scraped, or cold outreach lists.

**Use lists for fixed groups.** Use lists for source, event, plan, or manual membership.

**Use segments for changing groups.** Use segments for engagement, validation, custom fields, and lifecycle logic.

**Review suppression before sending.** Suppression protects deliverability and compliance.

**Keep language and country fields clean.** They help Migma prepare localized campaigns.
